    Pros +

    • Nothing. It was absolutely disgusting
    • A pretty good choice of food on the breakfast and the evening buffet. The Japanese-style room was spacious, quiet, clean and had a nice view. The onsens were great, and so was the lagoon. You could spend hours in there. It was very good value for money.
    • I had a fantastic stay at Jozankei View Hotel! The highlight is definitely the views—whether you are standing at the entrance, looking out from your room, or soaking in the open-air hot spring bath, the scenery is breathtaking. The hotel is perfectly located right next to the river. The food was also a major plus. Both dinner and breakfast offered a variety of Japanese cuisine with so many choices. It is excellent value for the money and I highly recommend it for a relaxing getaway.

    Cons -

    • The Onsen had mold everywhere.
    • The Wifi was spotty at times and the buffets were good, but not great
    • Carpet was not clean

Nice room and comfy bed. Very good indoor and outdoor onsen

Dinner buffet was not as good as before. Very crowded.

    9LawrencePosted on: 9-15-2025

We like the variety of food served for breakfast and dinner and they were delicious! The location of the restaurant is convenient. The hotel shuttle bus picked us up at Sapporo Station on time and that made it convenient to get to your hotel.

    9ThomasPosted on: 5-29-2025

Good sized Western room with good amenities. We had half board and the buffets had a very good selection. The Onsen was beautiful with multiple pools, two saunas, steam room, and cool room. There was never a large crowd in the Onsen. Staff was very nice and efficient.

We stayed two nights. The first night the were several very large tour groups which made the buffet area for both breakfast and dinner a madhouse. The second night had fewer people and the dining experience was much more pleasant.

    10HussainPosted on: 5-15-2025

Amazing ryokan, it has everything! The onsens were 10/10!

It would be nice to have dinner included (didn’t check it was an option when I booked). I only had breakfast included.

    9VictoriaPosted on: 3-13-2025

my spacious room and the view

onsen wasn’t very hot and 16th fl had limited space for bathing.also there was no true Japanese New Years mood. no such traditional music at all no crab legs this year but maybe because of Covid (economic reasons)

    Location. Buffet dinner

Crowded at the restaurant. Buffet line should change somehow it was boring for the guests who has more than 1 day stay

    10ChunPosted on: 2-10-2025

Very nice hotel with comfortable japanese style room, the futon bed is very comfortable. Excellent breakfast and dinner. There is crowd control during breakfast and dinner time, so, it is not as crowded as mentioned in any other visitor's comments. Very friendly staff with good english in the reception. The hotel is very close to the jozankei shrine and convenience store. Worth the value, will visit again in future !

    8KinPosted on: 2-10-2025

Breakfast is great! Lots of choices and the food is always in good quality. The onsen area is surprisingly large.

The room and facilities are a bit old.

    1. Water park and spa was a big hit with the kids. There is a rooftop spa as well with a gorgeous view of the surrounding mountains. Highly recommend it for snowy winter days. There's also special beauty products inside the spa like peeling gels which many other spas do not provide.2. Buffet was crowded and the dining hall is massive as per other reviews but the staff do their best to ease congestion and we didn't have to line up very long or wait for refilling of premium food items. More rotation and variety would be nice as everyday was the same. Having said that we enjoyed everything.

    1. Dated and old building, some parts look completely abandoned and slightly eerie2. Rooms can feel a bit hot and stuffy. We needed to open the window even when snowing to get some fresh air in. 3. The tatami mats were quite old and shedding onto our clothing. 4. Tv couldn't connect to Netflix etc so could only watch Japanese channels.

    4NorikoPosted on: 1-8-2025

The indoor pools are fun for kids. Recommended for family stays.

Stayed in the main building. There were stains on the carpet, doors, and wallpaper. The bathroom wasn’t well-cleaned. The room has definitely passed its prime. There was a giant spider in the room which led to a series of panicky events until taken care of. Check-in and check-out is a logistical nightmare. Could not take the elevator from the fifth floor so took the stairs down. The buffet was delicious but too many people at a time so difficult to grab food fast enough to eat it while it’s still hot.

    9RudyPosted on: 1-2-2025

We stayed in a tatami room, quite comfortable. The Onsen, spa and lagoon (pool) facilities are amazing, a typical Japanese hotel resort. The buffet choices are also good despite people’s review of being over crowded, it’s just the scale of the hotel is huge. However, they managed the seat allocation really well. It’s quite old hotel with classic but grandeur design and clean. The view from our room and the restaurant are fantastic. Staff are very kind and helpful. As we are travelling during winter, the location serves our purpose well. It is in the centre towards Sapporo Kokusai ski resort or further west to Rusutsu and about 45 mins from Sapporo city by car.

    Nothing significant.

All in 1. Stay, pls half board. Plus proximity to ski and river rafting

Food was same for all 3 days Why no change??? ?

    Good location

Old furniture and carpet in the bedroom. Musty smell in the bedroom. Toilet had a smell. Workers were drilling at the window when we were there. This caused the room to be dusty.

    Location

Room is old and not well clean up. My poor room was filled with strong smoking smell (non smoking room) i told the front staff right after i checked it in and asked to switch to “real” non smoking room. The staff gave me the spray to cover it?? How was that gonna work?? So we had to sleep the whole night with smoking while my girlfriend allergic to that!! I don’t think that was the best solution from front staff. Onsen in the building, i met 3 tourist guys used hair dryers to blow their “balls” right after shower. To me it’s not okay. The hotel should do something or to have sign to warn customers.I’ve been traveling to japan for more than 10 trips, a lot of old traditional onsen hotel, this hotel is under “japanese standard” for me.

    9ANGELINAPosted on: 10-27-2024

The room was huge and clean. Staff were friendly.

People with tattoos are not allowed in the big bath room but we still have to pay the bath fee.
